Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age Screenagers

On November 8, 2017 @ 6:00 pm we will be showing the attached film – a must see for all parents regarding technology and our children. It will be followed by a discussion/further information about social media. Open to all parents!

Family Tech Night Tech Night

On October 27, 2017 from 6 – 8 pm, Hyde Park Central School District is offering a Family Tech Night open to the public. Hyde Park graciously opened up the class to our community, as well. If you are interested in attending please see the attached flyer for more details. Pine Plains Central School District will be offering in district events in the near future.

Free NAMI Basics Program

The FREE NAMI Basics Program is for Parents and Caregivers of adolescents and children who have behavioral issues, undiagnosed emotional issues, ADHD, ODD, OCD, DMDD or have developed symptoms of mental illness (brain disorder).  Please see the link for more information.

Pupil Personnel Announces FREE Workshops for Special Education Families

The Mid-Hudson Regional Affiliate of the NYS Special Education Task Force works to improve educational access and outcomes for students with disabilites by offering forums and free informational workshops where parents, advocates, attorneys, school personnel, service providers and individuals with disabilities can learn more about special education and discuss a variety of related topics impacting students.  See flyer for more details.

PPS Workshop - Creating Networks of Support for Families Living with Special Needs

Join Devereux and Marist College for a day of information and inspiration, featuring noted Positive Psychologist Dr. Maria Sirois. In her keynote address, Dr. Sirois will help families of individuals with disabilities, and professionals who serve them, learn to build resilience. The author of A Short Course in Happiness and Every Day Counts, Dr. Sirois will draw on the scientific basis for the practice of resilience. Blending humor and compassion, she will offer practical strategies to help conference participants make choices every day that lead to happiness and thriving, even in difficult circumstances.

Excellence Awards for Pine Plains Staff Members excellence

Pine Plains Central School District is pleased to announce that three of our staff members will be receiving awards for excellence this fall:

Maryann Stoorvogel, Director of Special Education – recipient of the 2017 Educators of Excellence from the New York State English Council.

Renee Rundall, Academic Intervention Services – recipient of the 2017 Teaching - SUNY Dean’s Award from the Mid-Hudson School Study Council.

Jill Atherton, Custodial Worker - recipient of the 2017 Teaching Support Staff Services from the Mid-Hudson School Study Council.

These staff members have gone above and beyond in their service to our students, district and community.  We are extremely proud of their accomplishments and recognition.

Legal Notice: 2017-18 School Tax Collection Tax Collection

I, Karen S. Orton, School Tax Collector, have received the Tax Warrant for the collection of school taxes for the Pine Plains Central School District.  Taxes will be collected in the Tax Office at the Stissing Mountain Junior-Senior High School, 2829 Church Street, Pine Plains, NY  12567.  The days and hours of collection are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., except holidays.
