• Mr. Brooks:                    Regents Chemistry and Physics:

    • You are expected to be prepared for class everyday, including textbook, notebook and pen/pencil.  Absents:   It is the student’s responsibility to obtain missing assignments, either prior to a known absence or the day of return. Missed assignments are due the next day.  Missed tests are expected to be made up on the day of return.  Missed labs need to be completed at the earliest mutual convenience.

    • Work that is not made up will receive a zero.

    • Show Respect for the teacher, your classmates and school property. No Cell Phones, Earphones, Hats, Backpacks or Food.

    • Honesty: All work should be your own unless group work is specifically allowed-that includes tests, quizzes, labs, homework, ETC.

    • Presentation: No ragged edges. All work must include your full name, class period and date.

    • Grading: (Total points received / Total points possible) x 100%. Grades will be calculated from a combination of tests, quizzes, homework, labs and bonus points.

    • Lates: One day late labs will receive a maximum of a 75%. Two or more days late will receive a maximum of a 50 %.  Labs will not be accepted for Regents credit beyond the quarter in which they are due.  Homework assignments will only be accepted for credit on the day on which they are due.

    • General Lab Rules: You are expected to follow all safety rules!  No fooling around or unauthorized experiments.  Report all accidents immediately!!  Aprons and goggles must be worn at all times during lab experiments INCLUDING clean up, as instructed.  Repeated reminders of safety concerns during lab will result in grade reduction on the lab.

    • 1200 Minutes of satisfactory laboratory experience is required in order to take the NYS Regents Exam. By regulation, a satisfactory lab is one that has a passing grade (independent of points lost due to lateness or sloppiness).

    • Each student is expected to work on every lab (including clean-up) and must do and hand in his/her OWN lab report. Lab partners are allowed to work together to perform calculations and make interpretations but the presentation of the lab MUST be an individual effort.

    • Failing labs DO NOT count towards Regents Credit and should be redone. Redo labs are due before the end of the 5th and 10th week of the quarter.  To redo a lab, all questions containing wrong or partially wrong answers must be redone on a separate sheet of paper.  You do not need to redo questions that have been answered correctly.  Staple your corrections on top of the original.
