• Birthdays

Birthdays are special occasions for young children. I would like to offer a few options for our class this year as everyone has different beliefs on birthday celebrations in school. Families are more than welcome to come in on their child’s special day to read a story to our class, complete a special craft together or play a game. I understand that many parents work and this may or may not work for you so if you would like to send in a treat that is fine also. I would like to avoid sugary treats as much as possible so here are some treat ideas: popcorn, fruit cups, fruit kabobs, trail mix, muffins, and yogurt. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out. Please make sure to include napkins and/or plates. Please send a note a day or two in advance, so I can be prepared for the celebration.

    Our class promise:We Will

    • Show respect
    • Use kind words
    • Take turns
    • Do our best

    Remind Service

Now that everyone is signed up through the Remind service, we can use it to communicate regularly. You will find that it is the most efficient way for us to communicate instantly. I will send out group messages, pictures, and individual private messages this way. Please remember that when I send a group announcement it goes out to the whole class. When you respond to the announcement, it only goes to me. Any communication between you and I, remains confidential and is done through an individual message. Once you begin to use the service, you will see how easy it makes communicating and staying involved in your child's daily activities. I am confident that you will love this service just as much as I do!

    Snacks

Children are allowed to bring a nutritious snack to school each day.   Since we will have snack at different times, depending on the day, please make sure that it is nutritious. I encourage you to let your child be responsible for placing their snack every day and helping to pack their lunch, if they bring lunch. Making this their responsibility with encourage them to take ownership of what they bring and will help reinforce healthy habits. Please send any products that your child will need to eat their snack -- cups, napkins, spoons, etc. If your child has any special dietary/health restrictions, please let the nurse, and myself, know

It is my pleasure to welcome your child into my class and to join them on this amazing journey into First Grade!

I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year!
