Schools
The Pine Plains Central School District services approximately 850 students in grades pre-K through 12. Our smaller size affords us the luxury of providing a personal approach to teaching and learning, which supports our students from pre-kindergarten through graduation. Our priority is to know each student’s interests and goals and to customize their educational experience for optimal achievement.
Project-based learning and technology are at the core of our educational programs. As part of the District’s one-to-one technology commitment, pre-K through 2nd grade students each have a dedicated tablet to use in school. Students in grades 3 through 5 each have a dedicated laptop to use in school. At the secondary level, each student receives a laptop for school and home use.
While in high school, students also have the opportunity to earn up to 22 college credits. Unique programming includes agricultural courses including food science, horticulture and pre-veterinary. An extensive pre-engineering program, strong performance and visual arts programs as well as comprehensive athletic opportunities round out the curriculum and high school experience.
Our three schools have established welcoming, age-appropriate environments where children thrive academically, athletically, musically and socially. We offer multiple engaging experiences to help develop critical thinking, cultivate creativity, strengthen collaboration skills and expand the ability to communicate ideas. Our graduates leave high school equipped with 21st century skills, ready for the challenges of careers and college.
