My Name is Mrs. Solazzo, and I hold a dual degree in both elementary education and Students with Disabilities. I have a Masters in Learning and Technology. Technology is my passion, and I love to see children learn!
Welcome to the Pre K-5 Technology page! This year promises to be an exciting and memorable year for your child in Technology.
Please use the resources labeled Video and lesson announcements for either Pre-K to 1 or 2-5, depending on your child's grade level.
Goals: Pre-K to first grade, the goal is to learn how to use the mouse and keyboards, and they will be introduced to various websites.
Students in grades 2-5 will learn the proper placement of their fingers for home row keys. They are learning where the home row keys help to build muscle memory. Learning keyboard placement will help to solidify their abilities to learn to type. The students will learn how to use Office 365 and Google Apps for Education. Students in grades four and five will be introduced to Code Monkey. Code Monkey is a program that teaches the students how to code using the language of Coffee Script. By the time my students leave fifth grade, they will have been exposed to three different coding languages.
In 2016, I was named a PBS Learning Media Digital Innovator! Later that same year, I was awarded an all-expenses-paid three-day conference called Science in the Rockies through Citgo Fueling Education. This experience was a fantastic conference that was in Denver, Colorado. The award also contained a $1,000.00 prize to National School Supplies for the Seymour Smith students. The students in Seymour Smith last year enjoyed all of the STEM projects from Steve Spanglers, Sick Science! We made solar ovens; we used our imaginations and harnessed the power of air to create a large structure. We Skyped with Steve Spangler from Sick Science. The list goes on and on.
I look forward to another fantastic year!
