2019-20 Budget and BOE Election Information
BUDGET VOTE AND BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTION
The vote will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
All eligible district residents can vote at Stissing Mountain Junior / Senior High School, 2829 Church Street, Pine Plains, NY 12567.
Voter qualifications are thus: United States citizen; 18 years of age or older; and a permanent resident within the District for a period of thirty (30) days immediately prior to the vote.
In order to vote, an individual must be registered with either the school district or with Dutchess/Columbia County Board of Elections (depending on County of residence).
Any qualified resident may register to vote in this year’s election at the District Office, Stissing Mountain Junior / Senior High School, 2829 Church Street, Pine Plains, during regular business hours, from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, on days when school is in session, until May 16, 2019.

Absentee Ballot applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days prior to the election and vote, if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election and vote if the ballot is to be personally picked up by the voter. Absentee Ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of the election and vote, May 21, 2019.

PUBLIC HEARING ON THE BUDGET
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Education of the Pine Plains Central School District will hold a public hearing on the budget in the Stissing Mountain Junior / Senior High School, Pine Plains, New York, on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of presentation of the 2019-2020 budget.
BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTION
Anyone interested in becoming a candidate for the Board of Education of the Pine Plains Central School District may pick up a packet of information at the District Office or at a Board of Education meeting from the District Clerk.
There are two seats available; three are for a three-year term commencing July 1, 2019 and expiring June 30, 2022. The Board member election will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, the same time as the District’s vote on the 2019-2020 school budget.
Nominating petitions are due in my office no later than the 30th day preceding the election or Monday, April 22, 2019 by 5:00 pm with at least twenty five (25) signatures of qualified voters of the district. You are strongly encouraged to get more than 25 signatures to ensure that you have at least 25 valid signatures.
Board of Education member qualifications are as follows:
- Must be able to read and write.
- Must be a qualified voter of the district; that is, a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age or older, and not adjudged to be incompetent.
- Must be and have been a resident of the district for a continuous and uninterrupted period of at least one year immediately preceding the election.
- May not have been removed from any school district office within the preceding year.
- May not reside with another member of the same school board as a member of the same family.
- May not be a current employee of the school district.
- May not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office.
